What Is Egoscue?

WHO WE ARE:

EgoscueLogoThe Egoscue Method® is the world leader in non-medical pain relief. Since 1971 and with over 25 clinics worldwide, The Egoscue Method has helped individuals to tap into their body’s ability to heal itself, and free themselves of chronic pain. This easy and gentle method has a 95% success rate without the use of drugs, surgery or manipulation. We teach you how to regain control of your health without becoming dependent on another person or a machine.

We believe your body works as a unit, and that your foot bone is connected to your leg bone. If we merely treat the site of the pain, rather than getting to the root cause of your pain, we are wasting valuable time, energy, and money. Your body is similar to your car in that it has a lot of moving parts, and all of those parts are working together. If your car has a tire going bald, you can’t simply change the tire, or you’ll be right back in your mechanic’s shop a few months down the road getting another new tire. You have to address the alignment issue, which is the cause. We are really good at treating the root cause when it comes to our auto mechanics…so why don’t we do the same thing when it comes to biomechanics? We can’t afford to forget that, just like the axles, pistons, and muffler of your car, your body has a lot of moving parts that are all connected.

We believe that your body has an amazing ability to heal itself. Think about this: If you cut your arm, it doesn’t stay cut. If you break your leg, it doesn’t stay broken. Why are the herniated discs in your back, your torn meniscus, or your degenerative hip joint any different? The answer is THEY AREN’T! We simply have to give your body a chance to heal. Once that happens, you’ll be well on your way to being Pain Free for Life.

Remember that your body is made to move and there are ZERO design flaws with the body. It’s a perfect creation and any procedure, therapy, or modality that you choose to eliminate your pain should strive to return you to as close to that flawless design as possible. Any therapy or modality that will require you to limit your activity after it’s completed should be approached with caution. For example, if you’re having back surgery and your surgeon tells you that you won’t be able to play golf, remember that you’re designed to swing a golf club, and do so PAIN FREE! Always remember that the goal of any procedure or therapy should be to return and restore you to Perfect Health, not limit what you can do.

Our Egoscue therapists are trained to help you restore hope in your body and get back to the active lifestyle that you once led. Call for a complimentary consultation or to set an appointment today.  615-771-8556

WHO WE HELP:

WhoWeHelpSimply put, we help people in pain. More importantly, we give hope to the hopeless. If you’re like the majority of our clients, you’ve tried multiple modalities and are at the end of your rope. With the vast majority of those cases, we simply need to alter our focus and concentrate on cause-driven therapy rather than symptom-driven therapy. Once we make the shift from “What’s wrong with me?” to “What’s my body trying to tell me?”, you’ll experience a life free of pain and limitation.

The Egoscue Method provides simple and effective pain relief for numerous ailments, such as: headaches, jaw pain, neck and back pain, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee and hip pain, plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia, arthritis, tendonitis, and many other types of joint pain. We also specialize in sports performance, helping athletes return to competition pain free and without fear of future injury. Or, maybe you are someone who simply wants better posture! We are here to help with all of it!

For those with a sports background, numerous professional athletes, including PGA legend Jack Nicklaus, and NFL players John Lynch, Junior Seau, and Brian Urlacher use The Egoscue Method and PatchFitness to enhance their performance and extend their careers.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

EgoscueEciseYou and your therapist will discuss the pain or performance concerns that you are currently having.  A postural assessment, functional testing, and gait analysis will be done to determine your dysfunctions and compensations that are causing your pain.  Posture photos will be taken every few visits to track the progress of your structural changes.  Your therapist will develop a series of e-cises, called your “Menu”, to address your specific dysfunctions and compensations.  Your menu will change every week to adapt to the musculoskeletal changes that will be taking place in your body.
