Amy,
I'm a bit unclear about your question/comment. Are you saying that pain meds "treat" the root cause?

Static back is actually a great position to be in, as it bring your pelvis into a more neutral position. It helps decrease pelvic and thoracic rotation, allows the Iliopsoas to regain proper length and tension, and brings the hips, shoulders and head back in alignment by using the floor as a "map" for the body.

I agree that it is much quicker and easier to take a pain pill, but unfortunately that's only treating the symptom. The pill isn't taking away the structural cause of the pain. The only way to change a structural dysfunction is through a little work, and no one has ever accused the work done in the Egoscue Method of being easy.

I'd love to talk to you more about this. Call me at the office when you get a chance. Thanks for reading my blog!

Let me ask you a rhetorical question. What is easier when it comes to solving back pain? Notice I said solving as in addressing the root cause. I did not say treating the symptoms.

Taking a pain medication or laying in some unnatural position as static back puts you in??

It is much easier, quicker, and more effective at taking care of the root cause to swallow a pain pill.
